The VX REST module lets apps, headless front ends and integrations read and write your field values over HTTP. It doesn't add a separate API. It adds a typed vx object to the WordPress REST endpoints you already know, such as /wp/v2/books/123, so one request returns a book's title and content alongside its tagline, gallery and linked writers.

Nothing is public until you say so. Every field starts private, and you open up exactly the fields each kind of visitor should see. Start with Exposing content.
